All Things Hair

Hey guys! I recently got my hair done and I’m obsessed with how it turned out! I’ve been dying (no pun intended haha) to have my hair this blonde for so long and I’m so happy with my new color. Huge shoutout to Sage for working her magic!! You guys need to check her out if you’re thinking about coloring, highlighting or getting extensions. She’s amazing!!

For today’s post, I wanted to answer some questions I think you guys might have all about my hair!!

WHAT COLOR I ASKED FOR?: I told my stylist I wanted a “bright icy blonde color”. I showed her a couple pictures of the color I wanted to help give her a better idea. I specified that I wanted to keep my hair as healthy as possible so if she couldn’t lighten it exactly like the picture, that was fine. As long as it’s healthy! I recommend doing your research when it comes to choosing a stylist if you’re going to someone new! Make sure to check out their instagram, yelp and/or website to see their work and if you like their style. Can’t stress this enough.

WHAT I GOT DONE: I got a full set of highlights and had my roots blended. I also got tape-in extensions for the very first time! I know a lot of people are very hush hush about hair extensions but I want to be as open and honest as I can with you guys. I have been debating on getting extensions for years since my natural hair is relatively thin and I just wanted to have a little more thickness and fullness in my hair. So I ended up getting 1 pack of 12 inch extensions put in. They are the same exact length as my hair but they just add a little more volume and thickness which is exactly what I wanted. If you guys are interested, I can do an entire post all about extensions! Just let me know 🙂

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?: Every salons pricing is going to be different so I would call around to get an estimate how much it is going to cost but I paid $165 for a full set of highlights and $30 to add Olaplex. I know that’s pretty expensive for some people but I’m definitely a firm believer that you get what you pay for. And personally, I think it’s totally worth it to pay a little extra to know you’re in good hands.

OLAPLEX? WHAT’S THAT?: I came across a product called Olaplex while I was scrolling through pinterest a couple years ago. I’m not exactly sure the whole science behind it but basically it’s a three step system that helps prevent the keratin bond in your hair from breaking down. Olaplex is added to your color, then once your color has been processed and rinsed out, a leave-in treatment is added to your hair for about 10 minutes. The last step is using Olaplex no. 3 as a leave-in conditioner once a week at home. By adding the Olaplex treatment, it dramatically reduces breakage and prevents your hair from becoming weak and brittle (which usually occurs after coloring your hair). I’ve used Olaplex a couple times now and I don’t think I’ll ever get my hair colored without it. I swear by this stuff! It’s amazing at protecting your hair from damage. Definitely check to see if your salon offers it! SIDE NOTE: This is 100% not sponsored btw! I just love this product and swear by it.

PRODUCTS I USE IN MY HAIR:  My current shampoo is the Shea Moisture 10-in-1 system from Target. I like it because it’s sulfate & paraben free and smells so good. I love pretty much all of their products! I also use the Joico purple shampoo once a week to keep my color looking fresh. As for my conditioner, I just started using Olaplex no.3…it’s amazing! It makes my hair so soft and strong. But before this, I’ve used the Macadamia Nut deep repair mask for years and years! I love it!!

I hope you guys found this post helpful and I was able to answer some of your questions!  If you have anything else you’d like to know, feel free to leave a comment down below!
